The University of Manchester's William Lee Innovation Centre (WLIC) has unveiled a new medical system which knits made to measure compression stockings.
Curcumin, the major component in the spice turmeric, when combined with the drug Cisplatin enhances the chemotherapy's suppression of head and neck cancer cell growth, researchers with UCLA's Jonsson Cancer Center have found.
The shells of a common plant virus, inhaled into a lung tumor or injected into ovarian, colon or breast tumors, not only triggered the immune system in mice to wipe out the tumors, but provided systemic protection against metastases, researchers from Case Western Reserve University and Dartmouth University report.
Alcoholism has traditionally been considered a male disease because there are many more alcoholic males than females.
