Col. John W. Bullock, PA-C, DFAAPA, of Falls Church, Va., received the American Academy of Physician Assistants' 2010 Federal Service PA of the Year Award at the organization's 38th Annual Physician Assistant Conference in Atlanta yesterday. He was honored for his groundbreaking work on behalf of physician assistants. His decisions on policy, clinical research and acquisition have helped enable the medical workforce both at home and overseas to provide quality, effective and accessible care in all kinds of environments.
One of the challenges in evaluating the effectiveness of alcohol treatment is determining what constitutes a "good" outcome or meaningful improvement. While abstinence at the end of treatment is clearly a good outcome, a focus on abstinence ignores the benefits of patients reducing their drinking to less problematic levels so that they can function better and incur fewer social costs.
People are easily pulled into binge culture's quick-fix obsession with junk-food. But, according to a study published in Frontiers in Behavioral Neuroscience, they might just as easily be able to pull themselves out of it.
As members of Congress figure out the next steps to take to tackle health care reform, Idaho's health care woes continue to grow worse by the day. It's time for Idaho's state and federal lawmakers to step up to the plate for Idaho's families, businesses, and retirees to deliver solutions as opposed to more roadblocks to addressing this critical issue.
Aventis, part of the sanofi-aventis Group announced today that the European Commission has approved Taxotere (docetaxel) Injection Concentrate for use in combination with prednisone as a treatment for men with androgen-independent (hormone- refractory) metastatic prostate cancer.
