Researchers have for the first time mapped the complex choreography used by the immune system's T cells to recognize pathogens while avoiding attacks on the body's own cells.
Melior Discovery, Inc. announced today the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USTPO) has awarded a Notice of Allowance for a broad patent application covering the Company's use of MLR-1023 for, among other things, the treatment of type II diabetes and obesity. The patent will cover use of MLR-1023 for the treatment of type II diabetes, obesity and metabolic syndrome, including its use in combination with other compounds and as a component in other drugs.
Investigators from the Slone Epidemiology Center at Boston University have reported that African American women who consumed a diet high in vegetables and fruit gained less weight over a 14-year period than those who consumed a diet high in red meat and fried foods.
A five-year, $1.8 million grant (R01CA203965) from the National Cancer Institute awarded to Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey resident research member Wenwei Hu, PhD, will support research to further elucidate the mechanisms behind the most frequently mutated gene in human tumors - p53.
