The discovery opens the possibility that blood vessel growth (angiogenesis) one day may be induced, or stymied, for therapeutic use against heart disease, cancer, and other illnesses, according to Dean Y. Li, M.D., Ph.D., associate professor of internal medicine in the U of U School of Medicine's Division of Cardiology.
An article in the Australian Medical Journal reveals that taxpayers are paying $34 billion a year to treat persistent pain. Pain specialist Dr Timothy Semple, and president of the Australian Pain Society, told the Herald Sun chronic back pain, arthritis, nerve injuries and people who needed care after surviving cancer made up significant numbers.
Cytheris SA and the Cancer Immunotherapy Trials Network, a new initiative in immunotherapy funded by the National Cancer Institute with its Central Operations and Statistical Center headquartered at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Seattle, Washington, today announced the selection of recombinant human interleukin-7, the investigational multifunctional cytokine under development by Cytheris, as one of the first immunotherapeutic agents proposed for initial clinical trials at network institutions.
At the HUPO 10th Annual World Congress in Geneva, Switzerland, and at the JAIMA Conference in Tokyo, Japan, Bruker this week announces the release of its new high-performance amaZon speed and amaZon speed ETD ion trap mass spectrometers (ITMS) to meet the increasing demands of the proteomics, research and applied markets.
