Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. today announced that data from four late-stage studies examining QNASL (beclomethasone dipropionate [BDP]) HFA, a nasal aerosol corticosteroid in development for the treatment of seasonal allergic rhinitis (SAR) and perennial allergic rhinitis (PAR) symptoms, will be presented at the 2011 Annual Meeting of the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (ACAAI) in Boston, Mass., November 3-8, 2011.
Genome-wide studies of fission yeast (Schizosaccharomyces pombe) suggest that the evolutionary conserved enzyme Pfh1 helicase facilitates DNA synthesis by tracking along with the replication apparatus, promoting intact DNA synthesis at hard-to-replicate sites and consequently suppressing DNA damage. The findings are published in PLOS Genetics.
PolyMedix, Inc., an emerging bio-technology company focused on developing new therapeutic drugs to treat acute cardiovascular disorders and infectious diseases, has successfully completed a Phase 1B clinical study with its novel defensin-mimetic antibiotic, PMX-30063. The data from the study demonstrate that administration of multiple doses of PMX-30063 are safe and well-tolerated at dose levels which showed bactericidal activity in blood samples drawn from subjects in the study.
Researchers at the University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center have found that a cancer gene linked to aggressive spread of the disease promotes breast cancer stem cells. The finding implies a new way to target the behavior of these lethal cells.
