The Fairbanks Institute for Healthy Communities, the Indianapolis not-for-profit organization working to improve community health, announced today the creation of INbank™, a next generation biorepository that will provide scientists with an important resource for research on chronic diseases of aging.
Primary care physicians agree they have a role in addressing obesity, but say they do not have the right weight management resources. Obese or heavier adults take responsibility for weight loss, but adults who need to lose weight may lack information about effective weight loss methods and strategies. These findings and others come from new research commissioned and released today by the Strategies to Overcome and Prevent (STOP) Obesity Alliance, a project operating out of the Department of Health Policy at The George Washington University School of Public Health and Health Services.
A drug used to treat epilepsy has been found to significantly improve tremors, motor fluctuations, and other involuntary movements, or dyskinesias, in patients with Parkinson disease, according to a study published in Neurology, the scientific journal of the American Academy of Neurology.
Advanced Cell Diagnostics, Inc., a world leader in the field of in situ nucleic acid detection for life science research and clinical diagnostics, announced today that it has raised $22 million in Series C equity financing, led by growth equity investor Summit Partners with participation from Kenson Ventures and existing investors, Morningside Ventures and New Leaf Venture Partners.
