Danaher Corporation today announced record results for the second quarter 2015. For the quarter ended July 3, 2015, non-GAAP adjusted diluted net earnings per share were $1.08, which reflects the adjustments identified in the attached reconciliation schedule. On a GAAP basis, diluted net earnings for the second quarter were $696 million, or $0.97 per share. Revenue for the second quarter 2015 increased 3.5% to $5.1 billion with core revenues also increasing 3.5%.
Results of a multi-institutional national study of nearly 700 people who survived life-threatening illness with a stay in an intensive care unit (ICU) suggest that a substantial majority of them are at high risk for persistent depression, anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder — especially if they are female, young and unemployed.
In an investigation published in the current issue of Psychotherapy and Psychosomatics a group of German investigators provides the largest survey of mental disorders in cancer. Psychological problems are common in cancer patients.
Until now, brain scans obtained using fMRI – one of the most important imaging methods in use today – have been affected by fluctuations in the brain activity measured which could not be explained. Researchers at the Max Planck Institute for Human Cognitive and Brain Sciences in Leipzig and the Charité in Berlin have now shown that certain electric background rhythms in the brain, known as Alpha oscillations, alter the fMRI signal obtained with visual stimuli.
