Neoprobe Corporation, a diversified developer of innovative oncology surgical and diagnostic products, today announced that a third multi-center Phase 3 clinical study of Lymphoseek (NEO3-09) has received investigational review board approval and begun enrollment of subjects diagnosed with breast cancer or melanoma.
Surgeons at the University of Kentucky on Aug. 3 announced that they were among the first to use artificial-lung technology to demonstrate the feasibility of a lung transplant, using a device invented by two university faculty members, Dr. Joseph Zwischenberger and Dr. Dongfang Wang.
Researchers at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University have discovered a genetic signature identifying cases of lymphoma that are uniquely susceptible to a newly developed molecular targeted therapy. As a result, physicians organizing clinical trials of the new therapy will be able to enroll patients who'll be most likely to benefit from it.
Patients with acute deep vein thrombosis (DVT) develop potentially dangerous blood clots and can suffer severe leg pain and swelling. Doctors with Virginia Interventional & Vascular Associates (VIVA) report success over the past two years in treating acute DVT patients with a procedure called isolated pharmacomechanical thrombolysis (IPMT), which destroys clots much faster than traditional therapies.
