A Ludwig Cancer Research study has uncovered a key mechanism by which tumors develop resistance to radiation therapy and shown how such resistance might be overcome with drugs that are currently under development.
Standing before a roomful of economists, policy makers and health care experts earlier this month, Amitabh Chandra, director of Health Policy Research at Harvard's Kennedy School of Government, closed a presentation about the slowdown in health care spending over the last decade by citing an article in The New York Times.
Scivanta Medical Corporation, today announced that the results of its initial clinical trial for the Scivanta Cardiac Monitoring System (SCMS) clearly indicate that the SCMS can accurately measure cardiac performance as expected by the company. This clinical trial was performed at Kaleida Health/Millard Fillmore Hospital in Buffalo, New York.
Among infants who underwent surgery to repair bile ducts that do not drain properly (biliary atresia), the administration of high-dose steroid therapy following surgery did not significantly improve bile drainage after 6 months, although a small clinical benefit could not be excluded, according to a study in the May 7 issue of JAMA, a theme issue on child health.
