The ability for cancer cells to develop resistance to chemotherapy drugs - known as multi-drug resistance - remains a leading cause for tumor recurrence and cancer metastasis, but recent findings offer hope that oncologists could one day direct cancer cells to "turn off" their resistance capabilities.
About nine out of 10 new cancer drugs successfully clear preclinical development hurdles, but then they fail in human clinical testing. A new partnership facilitated by SAIC-Frederick Inc. aims to help change that outcome.
Syndax Pharmaceuticals, Inc. announced today that data from ENGAGE 501, a multicenter, phase 2 study, demonstrated entinostat, a novel, oral small molecule inhibitor of class I histone deacetylases, showed activity as a single agent in patients with relapsed or refractory Hodgkin's lymphoma.
A large study has found that removal of the tonsils as a child can mean that the individual is more susceptible to chest infections as an adult. The study appeared in the latest issue of the journal JAMA Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery.
