IU Philanthropic Venture Fund commits to invest $500,000 to NERx Biosciences company

The Indiana University Philanthropic Venture Fund, which provides capital to faculty, students, alumni and staff at all IU campuses to help them further develop their research and innovations into startup companies, has committed to invest $500,000 in Indianapolis-based NERx Biosciences Inc. as part of a $2.2 million bridge round.

The issue of uninsured Americans takes center stage this weekend in New Orleans as the Morial Convention Center, which served as a temporary medical clinic in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, will become the nation's largest physicians' office for a day with free health care for uninsured Louisiana residents. Up to 2,000 patients are expected to be treated by several hundred physicians and other volunteers at the C.A.R.E. (Communities Are Responding Everyday) Clinic.

USPTO issues patent related to Seattle Genetics' ADC technology

Seattle Genetics, Inc. announced today that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has issued a patent related to its antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) technology. U.S. Patent No. 7,659,241 covers cleavable linkers and potent auristatin drug payloads used in certain of Seattle Genetics' ADC programs, most notably brentuximab vedotin (SGN-35), as well as many ADC programs in development by its collaborators.
