Micell initiates enrollment in DESSOLVE I clinical trial of MiStent DES

The Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas has awarded $1.5 million to researchers at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston School of Public Health for a project designed to increase human papillomavirus vaccine rates among minority youth in medically underserved areas across Houston.

New diagnostic tests for auditory processing disorder (APD), which is estimated to affect between 2 and 7 percent of children could be available within five years through research funded by the charity Action on Hearing Loss. The news is announced in the charity's latest Hearing Progress report.

Research finds alteration in KBTBD13 protein causes nemaline myopathy

Researchers from the Department of Anesthesiology, Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USU), along with research teams from the National Institutes of Health and from Australia, the Netherlands and Spain, have identified a novel gene on chromosome 15q that, when altered, causes nemaline myopathy with cores, a rare inherited muscle disorder. The gene encodes a member of the BTB/Kelch family of proteins.
