Fried fish consumption linked to high stroke rates: Study

Researchers from Emory University (Atlanta, Georgia), the University of Alabama (Birmingham, Alabama), and Boston University (Boston, University) have found that omega-3 fatty acids contained in fish has "favourable effects on platelet aggregation, blood pressure, lipid profile, endothelial function, and ischemic stroke risk." The team led by Dr. Fadi Nahab decided to look into the racial and geographical aspects of preparing and eating fish and its effects.

Durata completes target enrollment in dalbavancin Phase 3 trial for ABSSSI

Durata Therapeutics today announced that it has completed its target enrollment for DISCOVER 2 ("Dalbavancin for Infections of the Skin COmpared to Vancomycin at an Early Response"), the second global, Phase 3 clinical trial of Durata's lead product candidate, dalbavancin, under investigation for the treatment of acute bacterial skin and skin structure infections (ABSSSI) caused by susceptible gram-positive bacteria.

Greater physician involvement leads to fewer low-yield exams

A new rule preventing medical support staff from completing orders for outpatient imaging exams that were likely to be negative resulted in a marked decrease in low-yield exams for patients, according to a study appearing in the June issue of Radiology.
