Cerapedics' i-FACTOR Peptide Enhanced Bone Graft gets FDA approval for use in cervical spine surgery

Cerapedics, a privately-held orthobiologics company, announced today the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the company's Premarket Approval (PMA) application for i-FACTORâ„¢ Peptide Enhanced Bone Graft for use in anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) procedures in patients with degenerative cervical disc disease. i-FACTOR bone graft is the first bone graft to be approved for use in the cervical spine and only the second PMA-approved bone graft in the spine.

Legionnaires' disease scare in Bali: Australian tourists warned

Commonwealth chief medical officer Jim Bishop has warned Australians who have returned from Bali on an outbreak of Legionnaires' disease on the popular Indonesian resort island. The Australian health authorities knew of 11 cases of Legionnaires' disease detected in Victorians and Western Australians after holidays in the Kuta area of Bali between August 2010 and January 2011.
