Intensive glucose control associated with reduced risk of albuminuria

A review of data from seven clinical trials suggests that intensive glucose control is associated with reduced risk of microalbuminuria and macroalbuminuria (conditions characterized by excessive levels of protein in the urine usually resulting from damage to the filtering units of the kidneys), according to a report published in the May 28 issue of Archives of Internal Medicine, a JAMA Network publication.

Capstone Therapeutics announced today that participating subjects have reached the planned twelve-month timepoint in the first of its two ongoing AZX100 Phase 2a clinical trials in keloid scarring. Data analysis for these subjects is underway. Per protocol and the original clinical development plan, results of the two keloid scarring trials will be pooled for analytical purposes and are scheduled for release during 4Q2010.
