SunLink Health Systems' fiscal year ended June 30, 2009 and fourth-quarter results announced

SunLink Health Systems, Inc. today announced earnings from continuing operations for its fourth fiscal quarter ended June 30, 2009 of $850,000, or $0.11 per fully diluted share, compared to earnings from continuing operations of $579,000, or $0.07 per fully diluted share, for the quarter ended June 30, 2009.

Bronx churches, Montefiore partner to fight against hypertension

Montefiore Medical Center is sponsoring screenings and educational workshops at churches in the Bronx in order to help reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease in congregants who are identified with hypertension. Congregants learn about hypertension, medication management, weight control, healthy cooking habits and perform yoga exercises to reduce stress.

Antibacterial lab coats to help prevent spread of disease in hospitals

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 99,000 people die every year from infections acquired while in hospitals. "The goal in our profession is to help cure you not introduce you to another deadly infection," said Dr. Charles Kinder, Heart Rhythm expert and Director of Heart Rhythm Program at Heart Care Centers of Illinois.

Four H1N1 vaccines approved by FDA

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced today that it has approved four vaccines against the 2009 H1N1 influenza virus. The vaccines will be distributed nationally after the initial lots become available, which is expected within the next four weeks.
