High-risk sexual behavior in adolescents appears to be influenced by the sexual attitudes of peers, and young people select friends whose attitudes about sex are consistent with their own attitudes.
Being very overweight in your teens doubles the risk of developing colorectal cancer later in life compared to those whose weight was within the normal range a new Swedish study suggests. The research team behind the study are from örebro University in Sweden and Harvard School of Public Health in the US.
Elan Corporation, plc and Transition Therapeutics, Inc today announced the results of a Phase 2 placebo-controlled study in 351 patients with mild to moderate Alzheimer's disease who received study drug for up to 18 months (Study AD201). Study subjects with MMSE scores between 16 and 26 received ELND005 oral doses of 250 mg, 1000 mg or 2000 mg twice daily or matching placebo. The study's cognitive (NTB) and functional (ADCS-ADL) co - primary endpoints did not achieve statistical significance.
The Frontline Health Workers Coalition - which consists of 16 major non-governmental organizations (NGOs) including the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Family Care International, the International Association of Physicians in AIDS Care, and RESULTS - has launched "a new initiative to add one million health care workers in developing countries," VOA News reports.
