Just 3% of GPs who responded to a recent survey, commissioned by Pancreatic Cancer Action, said they felt fully confident and informed about the symptoms of pancreatic cancer, and the difficulty in recognising these was deemed to be the main barrier to diagnosing patients early.

H.N. and Frances C. Berger Foundation donates $1M for Haiti relief efforts

The H.N. and Frances C. Berger Foundation is committing $1-million for emergency and medical supplies to assist relief efforts in Haiti. The donation will be made to Eisenhower Medical Center, which is currently engaged in the relief effort through Eisenhower's Emergency Physician Raul Ruiz, MD, MPP, MPH. Dr. Ruiz will facilitate the donation to Samaritan's Purse®, a non-profit organization that has worked in Haiti for more than 30 years.

Oxytocin - often referred to as the 'love hormone' because of its ability to promote mother-infant attachment and romantic bonding in adults - could also make us more accepting of other people, as found in new research, "Oxytocin Sharpens Self-other Perceptual Boundary," by Neuropsychoanalysis Foundation research grantee Valentina Colonnello Ph.D. published online today in Psychoneuroendocrinology.
