Pregnancy Awareness Month, is proud to announce PAM's annual "Motherhood Begins Now" event, to launch a month-long national campaign of education and social connection for women across the country.
The largest study to date to examine methods to prevent HIV infection among breastfeeding infants concludes that giving antiretroviral drugs to HIV-infected breastfeeding mothers in sub-Saharan Africa or giving an HIV-fighting syrup to their babies are both effective.
The Boston Globe: "President Barack Obama said Tuesday he'll bring in high-tech bounty hunters to help root out health care fraud, grabbing a populist idea with bipartisan backing in his final push to overhaul the system. ... Obama's anti-fraud announcement was aimed directly at the political middle."
At Pittcon 2014 Bruker announced a new sample automation system for the minispec mq and mq-one series, a new easy to use and cost-effective system that brings sample automation to routine Time-Domain (TD)-NMR applications. Its fast sample exchange of 10mm OD sample tubes delivers new levels of maximum throughput and thanks to automated and precise tempering times measurement reliability is improved, significantly boosting productivity of the minispec series.
"To realize the real impact of investments in our fight against malaria, we must not only maintain current funding levels but actually increase them. If we don't, then the achievements we have made in providing malaria protection will be short lived," said Sunil Mehra, Executive Director of the UK-based Malaria Consortium.
